About us

Blackhall playgroup aims to provide a stimulating, rewarding and welcoming play environment for children and to introduce them to group activities and new skills.

Location

We are situated in the upper community hall attached to St Columba’s Church. St Columba’s Church is located on the corner of the Queensferry Road and Columba Road.

Timetable

We follow the City of Edinburgh Council school holiday calendar. We are open term time Monday to Friday with our daily session running from 9.00am to 11.30am.

Fees

Our fees are currently set at £16.95 per session. Session fees are invoiced each term. To cover running costs we hold fundraising events, at least one per term.

Staff

We currently employ four members of staff to run the daily sessions. All staff are PVG checked, registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), and trained in Safeguarding and first aid.

Committee

To meet our registration, constitution and to ensure we are meeting our users needs we are a committee led group and invite parents/carers to be part of this . Roles include, Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Fundraiser and Parent Reps.

Care Inspectorate

We are registered, regulated and inspected by the Care Inspectorate. The documents Health and Social Care Standards and A quality framework for daycare of children, childminding and school aged children are used to support and identify good practice, and identify improvements .
